Affectionate and bittersweet, the theatre show was performed in two acts over two sets with some unexpected, but fun, moments of audience participation. “Zevon – Accidentally Like A Martyr” features all of Warren Zevon’s greatest hits and some rare nuggets including Lawyers Guns & Money, Excitable Boy, I Was in the House When The House Burned Down, Roland The Headless Thompson Gunner, Johnny Strikes up the Band, Poor Poor Pitiful Me, A Certain Girl, I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead and of course, Werewolves Of London.
Zevon starred:

Lachlan Bryan – Musical Director/Piano/Vocals
Holly E. Thomas – Drums/Vocals
Damian Cafarella – Bass/Drums/Guitar/Vocals

“Zevon – Accidentally Like A Martyr” allows Henry and the band to work with a repertoire of extraordinary songs and lyrics – some hits and many that should have been. The production is not just any old Wikipedia-driven Zevon biography about the many sins of the 70s, but instead focuses on the music for which his fans around the world adore him. Truth be known, his story is in the music.
From heretic to heroic: “Zevon – Accidentally Like A Martyr” by Henry Wagons is a marriage of rare convenience.
