Violent Femmes, Hamer Hall – 16th March 2017

This tour follows the 2015 visit and the A Day On The Green series of shows that also featured Sunnyboys and Hoodoo Gurus. This time around, as best as possible, the Femmes are hitting regions they have not been to before or have not appeared at in a very long time including Geelong, Penrith, Darwin, the aforementioned Gold and Sunshine Coasts and two more appearances for A Day On The Green, this time in Rutherglen (NSW) and Clare Valley (SA).

We would like to continue our decades-long love affair with Australia by bringing the rock to the regions. We will be playing old favourites and new with our usual shambolic splendour.” – Brian Ritchie

In celebration of the tour and the enduring popularity of both the Violent Femmes and their eponymous 1981 debut, digital radio station Double J have made that same album their Classic Album of the week.

We intentionally avoided any production tricks or styling that would place the record in a particular time period and that’s the reason we still get 13, 14, 15-year-old kids getting into the album. We’ll have three generations of the same family in the audience all digging it!” – Brian Ritchie / Double J
