Tropical Fuck Storm, Croxton Band Room 19th October 2019
Tropical Fuck Storm is an Australian band from Melbourne, Victoria formed by Gareth Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin after taking a hiatus from the art-punk psych band The Drones. Lauren Hammel, from the band High Tension, plays drums and Erica Dunn, from the bands Harmony and Palm Springs, plays guitars, keys and other instruments. After slamming through their set at Splendour In The Grass this past weekend, Tropical Fu*k Storm are serving up a handmade bowl of delicious Italian fused sexiness with their new single ‘Who’s My Eugene?’. Erica Dunn taking over lead vocal duties, ‘Who’s My Eugene?’ is the third single off their forthcoming second LP, Braindrops, due out August 23rd, via Flightless Records. “I had a dream that I was served Brian Wilson’s face at a restaurant and it tasted good! I woke thinking that I had to write about the doomed facade of the American dream” Erica explains. “Cos the famous beach boy couldn’t swim and Dennis drowned. But that idea has been so over cooked by acid casualty hippies that I decided to write about my fear of falling in love with anybody because of the anxiety that they could either help me express myself or keep me locked in psychological torment a la Eugene Landry and Brian.” The clip for ‘Who’s My Eugene?’ was filmed during the summer of 2019, soaked with an ample amount of Aperol Spritzes, on the beach on an Italian island.
